Traditional Usui Reiki
What is Reiki?
Reiki can be described as a relaxation and meditation method that promotes self-healing; unless you have been initiated into level 1, 2 or 3 you will require a practitioner to provide you with access to universal healing energy. I view Reiki as an energy bath from source, where you direct the energy and set your own intention for the outcome. I do not 'DO' anything to you - in fact I get out of the way and become an empty vessel bringing source energy through my crown chakra and out my third eye and hand chakras for you to receive. Whilst there are many theories about where Reiki energy comes from it is now possible to scientifically measure and record its effects: one way to do so is by measuring the bio-magnetic fields that penetrate and surround the human body - this can be done with a magnetometer. We now know that each part of the body has a unique biomagnetic reading of which the heart has the strongest (refer to The Heart Math Institute).
Healthy organs pulsate at their own unique frequency - this changes when they are unhealthy - if you choose to direct Reiki energy to areas that are not healthy, you may experience a re-balancing and return to better health frequencies.
The system of Reiki is a complimentary, safe, vibrational energy healing therapy - it is painless, non-manipulative, non-invasive and does not interfere with any form of medical treatment.

Reiki, is increasingly welcomed in palliative and hospice settings. Its light touch helps calm the nervous system, reduce discomfort, and ease emotional distress. Research published in the BMJ Supportive & Palliative Care Journal has shown that Reiki can significantly reduce pain and anxiety in terminal patients, supporting a more peaceful state of being.
Of course the benefits of Reiki go beyond science. Reiki offers a sacred stillness — a quiet space to breathe, process, and let go. Many describe it as a moment of deep connection with themselves and their journey. For those nearing end of life, Reiki can become a spiritual balm — gentle, respectful, and affirming. It often provides support for family members as well during this time.
I provided Reiki support for my own mother during her last days and a deep and sacred calmness became present during and after these sessions together.
I also volunteered as Palliative Reiki practitioner for the charity Heart to Heart - the benefits observed during this time were evident for the mothers of palliative children, as much as the children on the journey home.
